Rory Williams

SPOILER ALERT!!!!

Rory Williams is the the husband of Amelia Pond, the father of Melody Pond (aka River Song) and a companion of the Eleventh Doctor. He also goes by the Last Centurion and Rory the Roman.

He first appears as Amelia's boyfriend in the first episode of Season Five, The Eleventh Hour.

Originally quite timid and insecure, with the Doctor's influence and his love of Amy, he eventually developed into a brave soldier and husband.

He sacrificed his life to save Amy and was consumed by the Crack, so that he never even existed. The Doctor, as an experienced time traveler was able to remember him; but Amy began acting as though he never existed, having no memory of him (and being very confused upon finding the engagement ring he'd given her.)

Rory then woke up as a soldier in ancient Rome, his head full of Roman stuff. He turned out to be plastic that was controlled by the Nestene Consciousness. He then shot Amy against his will, but she was saved and put in the Pandorica. Rory then guarded her for 2000 years, waiting for the Doctor to return.

When the universe was rebooted, Rory became human again and married Amy. During their wedding, Amy remembered the Doctor and brought him back into existence (he had been consumed by the Crack). Amy and Rory then began to travel with the Doctor again.

When it was discovered that Amy had actually been kidnapped, Rory, with the Doctor's help, stormed onto a Cybermen spaceship and demanded the location of his wife.

He and the Doctor along with many, many friends rescued Amy from Demon's Run, but failed to save their daughter Melody, who was revealed to be River Song.
